taken from my friend olivia's livejournal, who got it from her friend's live journal:

"Alberto Gonzales spoke before law students at Georgetown today, justifying illegal, unauthorized surveilance of US citizens, but during the course of his speech the students in class did something pretty ballsy and brave. They got up from their seats and turned their backs to him.

To make matters worse for Gonzales, additional students came into the room, wearing black cowls and carrying a simple banner, written on a sheet.

Fortunately for him, it was a brief speech... followed by a panel discussion that basically ripped his argument a new asshole.

And, as one of the people on the panel said,

"When you're a law student, they tell you if say that if you can't argue the law, argue the facts. They also tell you if you can't argue the facts, argue the law. If you can't argue either, apparently, the solution is to go on a public relations offensive and make it a political issue... to say over and over again "it's lawful", and to think that the American people will somehow come to believe this if we say it often enough.

In light of this, I'm proud of the very civil civil disobedience that was shown here today."

- David Cole, Georgetown University Law Professor "

Woke up in the middle of the night on Wednesday and puked my freakin guts out. I think I had some sorta food poisoning or something cause I was up all night. And it was not pretty.

That was gross.

But now I'm feeling (mostly) better. Spent yesterday catching up on reading, then I watched Glory Road with my sis, the Kim sisters and Secret. It was good. Inspirational sports movies + racial reconciliation = my favorite. Also, JoshLucas is hot.

Another week of school. Yay. But, the last of my grades will be out this week so we'll see how craptastic I did, and my lunch crew is growing with some fun new people.

WestWing and GraysAnatomy tonight. Yeeaaaahh.

"The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.

"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant."

"Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: - 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'"
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I'm having TV problems.

We have no cable at my house, only the korean satellite channels. There's a TV in Sarah's room that gets ABC, some NBC, some WB and UPN. Watched Grey's Anatomy tonight- it was great. But I reaaaaally wanted to watch 24, and Fox doesn't come out. Well, it sorta does. See, I extended the antennaes as long as they could go, and tried every possible angle to get some sort of signal. I ended up with a fuzzy one, but it entailed me physically holding up one end of it. It was pretty ghettooooo. But at least I got to watch it (sorta). I would just download them... but part of the fun of watching 24 is watching it on TV, freaking out during commercials, etc.

I just finished week 1 of second semester. It was painful. For some reason, every class seemed especially long, especially boring. Grades have been coming out as well. Thus far, I didn't rock them, but I didn't fail them. Yay me.

My mom accidentally left a pot on the stove today with the burner on. Ooops. Everything smells like smoke now. We've had candles burning all night and windows open and fans on. Which is why I am currently sitting in my room in socks, pants, long sleeve, sweatshirt and still shivering. Nothing permeates like the nasty smell of smoke. Yuck.
