An article about girls who kick ass.... literally...
Girls pummel man who exposed himself

Happy Halloween! Tonight, we're going to give out treats to the kiddies, and then party the night away. Hooray!

Also, happy birthday to my momma. It's her birfday. Hoooray! I love my momma.

My life has been very very boring lately. All I do is watch TV. Although, there has been some very good TV on lately. Last night's Friends and Scrubs were great. And ER was good-- but very very disturbing. Ewwwww. Burned alive. Ewwww.

When I arrive at work in the mornings and see that little red light on my phone, I am filled with dread. I hate having voicemail in the mornings. I dread listening to the message, seeing what people want from me. Kind of crazy, yes. But that's me.

Hey, if you have family or friends in LA, I hope they're okay. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that fires suck. A lot.

Mom left yesterday. I was sad to see her go, but a little relieved. It's hard having guests and having to go to work and juggle all that. But I'll have remnants of this visit for many many weeks to come-- there is a ridiculous amount of food in my freezer and fridge. Yumm.

So dude. You know when there's a person who you think is cool, nice, awesome, etc., but you think they're pretty normal. And then you find out they are ridiculously smart. And you just had no idea. There's a girl who's a junior in my house who got a 36 on her MCAT, two girls who got 35s, and a girl who got a 34. Dang. Congrats girls!

Lots of work to do today. No desire to do it.

Today is Saturday. Why am I writing on a Saturday? Cause we have internet in our apartment now! Yay!

Oh man, I had a meeting at work today. I got to the office at 8:15 AM. Miserable. It was an interesting meeting, but very very very long. The best part? After the meeting was over, I went outside and stood on the sidewalk for half an hour. Outside, there was a huge anti-war protest going down 15th St. Seriously, crowds of people were passing us by for more than an hour. They had some really funny signs, and some really intelligent signs. I saw four men marching in a row, carrying horse things around their midsections. They were the four horsemen of the apocolypse-- Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft. I thought that was very very creative.

After watching the protestors, I met up with my momma and her friends, and we went to the Korean grocery store. My mom bought SO MUCh food. Seriously. Our freezer is jam packed right now. I'm really happy, but I have no idea how on earth we're going to finish all that food.

I miss my siblings! I miss my friends! I'm sending some mad love out to my NU buds and all my buds in California. Keep it real, babies.

Ho hum. Almost a week since I last blogged. Where does the time go? Work has been pretty busy this week-- lots of little things that needed to get done, along with all the big things. I think after this week, things will slow down a bit. Well, I can hope, can't I?

So, my momma came into town last night. Hooray! She brought a big suitcase full of food. Korean food. Helll yeah. I miss my momma and my momma's cooking, so I'm enjoying myself.

My best friend's older brother got married two weeks ago. It's wild. I haven't seen him all that much after high school, so he's kind of trapped in my mind as a high schooler. Thinking of him as a married man is WILD.

More later.

Talk about the two teams I LEAST wanted to get into the World Series getting to the World Series. I mean, cmon. The baseball powers that be must really hate me this year. The incredible pain I felt from last year's world series defeat and then this year's first round defeat have turned into disgust. Stupid Marlins. If they win, they'll probably do what they did last time they won the Series-- dismantle the freakin' team! And Yankees... hate those bastards... Evil Empire! Bah. I really wish the Sox had held on to that lead last night.

I'm so SO tired. I haven't been sleeping well, and I've been sleeping really late. I am going to sleep in tomorrow like you would not believe! Hooray for Saturdays!

I'm having money problems. Mainly, I don't have enough. And I'm a very impulsive buyer. I spend WAY too much money on books. I've been buying a lot of books lately. I just can't help myself. I see a book I want, and I don't even think about it-- I just buy it. I need to find myself a library. Yes, I am a nerd.

My brother and sister and I are awesome. We are the coolest kids ever. Just wait and see.

Dude. Cubs. That sucks. I can imagine the groans and curses and tears around Chicago. I feel like I am surrounded by Cubs fans all of a sudden. I hope they win tonight. Not cause I'm a fan. Just cause I want the Marlins to lose. And cause I'm afraid Chicago will riot if they don't. I hope the Red Sox win!!! Stupid Yankees. Hate those bastards.

Been pretty busy at work this week. It's gonna stay busy for a while. Oh well. Better to be occupied than bored.

I made a spontaneous purchase today. Well, kind of. I pre-ordered the new Jars of Clay CD. If you know me, you know that I am a mega, almost obsessive, humongous Jars fan. So I saw the CD on sale online, busted out my wallet, and bought it. I can't wait to hear it. Seriously, Jars of Clay got me through college. The albums I studied to best were Jars of Clay and the Rent soundtrack. And I always needed music when I studied. I'm just very very sad they won't be making it out here on their tour. SAAAAD.

I didn't sleep well last night. Took me forever to fall asleep. And lately, I haven't been sleeping very deeply. I think I need to get me some earplugs. I'm SO tired!

Sometimes I am alarmed at how lazy I am.

Today is Columbus Day. And I am at work!! Sucks. I mean, I've never had Columbus Day off before, but the fact that I am here and the federal government is closed, well, that sucks. Joy doesn't have to go to work either! What's up with that? Well, I'll try to be as unproductive as possible today as a form of protest.

Had a very fun weekend. Saturday evening I hung out with Ankur and Veyom, who was in town for the weekend. We ate, walked around, laughed at each other. Sunday after church, me, Veyom Ankur and Joy went to Taste of D.C. Now, I've never been to Taste of Chicago, so I have nothing to compare it to, but according to Joy and Ankur, Taste of D.C. is way way smaller. But also way way less crowded. I wasn't hugely impressed by the food, but I had some good chow, and it was a fun afternoon of walking around and chillin'. Also, Josh Kelley performed on the mainstage, which was great. I only know that one song of his, but everything else he sang was great too, and his voice rocks. Hooray for free concerts! And free Rolaids.

I'm reading all these blogs, and everyone and their mama seems to be all into baseball. Now don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that people are enjoying America's pastime, and appreciating my favorite sport. However, some of these people are the same ones who ahem have previously mocked me for my passion (okay, obsession) for baseball. So from now on, no teasing me for watching every Giants game on TV, taping games that I was at and replaying the good moments, not studying for a month because the Giants were in the playoffs, cancelling area group because it conflicted with a Giants game, and crying when they lost the Series. No teasing me for listening to Giants game online throughout the season, for having the Giants pages on sfgate.com and mercurynews.com and the baseball page on espn.com bookmarked. I am expecting willing participants to go to any and all baseball games with me. Seriously. At this point, I want the Cubs and the Red Sox to win. And then I want the Red Sox to CRUSH the Cubs. If it's Cubs and Yankees, fine, I hope the Cubs win. If it's Sox and Marlins, I want the Sox to win. And if it's Yanks Marlins, I could give a damn. Yankees are the evil empire!! Like Starbucks, with bats and pinstripes.

I'm kind of OCD in a lot of ways, cause once I get into something, I really get into it. Like baseball. I'm such a baseball dork. I just really like the game, okay? When there was a baseball exhibition at the field museum, I was so happy. Okay. I'm a nerd. Not just about baseball either. If you want even more proof, I have a confession to make. Last week, one of my co-workers and I took a long lunch, and went to the Uptown Theater in D.C., where we waited in line and bought Lord of the Rings tickets. Not just any Lord of the Rings tickets. We bought tickets for the trilogy viewing, where we will watch all three movies in one day (the extended versions of the first two, the premiere of the third). First movie starts at 1:30, last movie starts at 10:30. I'm very excited. But I know I am the subject of much mocking and ridicule right now. Mock away! I have 10 hours of Aragorn and Legolas to make me feel better.
Oh geez. I think I've become my worst nightmare.
Dungeons and Dragons anyone??

California voters-- you are a bunch of monkeys. Arnold??? CMON! What the hell does the know? What does he stand for? The man hasn't shown that he has the experience/skills/knowledge necessary to govern a state. The only thing he's done is acted badly in a lot of movies and spent a lot of money on this campaign.
Props to my family, who voted against the recall. Holla!

I am in baseball hell. At this point-- Go BoSox. Hate the Yankees-- who doesn't? Hate the Cubs-- everything about them. Hate the Marlins-- rotten bastards. Soo.... Go BoSox.

Monday, October 06, 2003

So I was reading some of Minsoo's old quote of the days. Man. I think as I've gotten older, I've lost the ability to think before I speak. I said some pretty damn stupid things last year. But I also gotta say--- they were all in a certain context!!!! They all made sense in the situation, if you were there. Seriously.

I love my Giants. So don't hate. I am a fan of them through thick and thin... not like all these *other* teams fans who hate on their team and whine and complain about them until they start doing good, and then it's, oh yeah! Go *other* team! At this point, I'm rooting for the Sox or the As. Just cause man, as bad as the BoSox have been/are, their fans are faithful. A's cause... well, if it ain't the Giants, we can at least keep it in the Bay Area. I can't bring myself to root for the Marlins, cause they are f***** assholes, or the Cubs, because my old coach and half my old team are there and cause you can't be a real fan and root for any other team in your league. I feel like I need to have a nice long conversation with John Jacobus right now. I think he'd know how I feel. John Jacobus-- where are you??

Saturday, October 04, 2003

I can't believe we lost. I am so sad. Stupid bastards. Both of them. Marlins because they're the mo****f****ing enemy, Giants because they played like crap. I can't FREAKING believe. The team is going to be so different next year. No J.T.!!!!! That sucks ass. Will I see the Giants win a series in my lifetime?? WILL I????
Don't mess with me about this. I'm serious. I don't want to hear it from you. Much like last year, this is not something I will be able to talk about for about three weeks.
It's fun being a hard-core fan, but it's also heartbreaking sometimes. I have a headache. And a stomachache.
I'm SO SAD.

YO. Check out this band. This a for real band, based in Chicago. The name of this band? KILL HANNAH. Yes, you read right. Kill Hannah! What the...?? This is freaking me out! I guess this is how you'd feel if your name was Bill, and you watched "Kill Bill." But still. Hannah isn't THAT common of a name. I don't even get a mug with my name on it, but I get a band who wants to kill me. Great.

A change will do you good! New template! wooooo! Yes, I have work to do. But I decided I needed a blog change. Yes, the template is not so pretty. But it's orange, so I thought it was appropriate (you know... SF Giants... their colors are orange and black... yes, I am a nerd).

Giants lost yesterday. That sucks. Here's my postgame analysis:
The giants were off yesterday. They couldn't get the clutch hits, looked nervous and unfocused in the field and basically got their ass kicked. There were like four errors for a team that finished I think third in the league in defense. The bullpen pitched horribly, and Ponson just didn't look sharp. I personally think Alou should have gone withe Reuter, simply because of his record at home and his playoff history. Overall, the Giants just didn't look like the Giants. They didn't play like themselves, and if they want to win, they need to start playing like the team that has the best record in the NL and went wire to wire in the NL West. I really think that this team is better than the Marlins. I hope they beat them in the next two at Florida. They better.
Other baseball prediction: Braves over Cubs in five, A's over Reds in four, Twins over Yanks in four. Giants over Braves. A's over Yanks. Bay Bridge Series!!! Giants win it all!!! (this is just wishful thinking. will it really happen? maybe. if it does happen, i will be the happiest girl on earth. if the giants make the series, i swear to goodness i will go to a game. it will be my life mission.)

I miss.... my girls, my family, walking around campus, sleeping in, watching A Wedding Story, hanging out in the fun room, stir fry at norris, suave dave han, driving, In and Out, being dependent on the folks...
I don't miss... communal bathrooms, buying textbooks, the weird smells on Emerson, being dependent on the folks, obnoxious poli sci majors, Ranch 99 plaza, driving in traffic...
