Adventures in Sacramento
I'm (almost) settled into my new apartment. I live in midtown Sac, near work and near restaurants/cofee shops/old homes. My apartment has really ugly carpets, and not enough closet space, but its cheap and it's in a good location. As of right now, I have no furniture, no internet, no bed, and no TV. I'm really really really bored.
To alleviate boredom the past few days, I've done a few things. First, I've watched almost every video file on my computer. I also went went to the Central branch of the Sac Library yesterday and got a library card. I picked up a couple books, and will probably go back this week to check out some more.
Last night, I decided to go out an see what was around. It was SecondSaturday, which is this big thing where art galleries stay open late, there's live music all around, and people mill around and eat and drink. I stopped into the first bar I saw, and ordered a beer. As I drank my beer, I looked around and noticed 80 percent of the people in the bar were dudes. Then I saw a couple of transgender/transexual/dragqueens (i don't know the proper term) sitting at a table. The rainbow budlight sign then clinched it. Yup, I was drinking beer in my neighborhood gay bar. Clearly, beer is beer, but you'd think I would have noticed the big rainbow sign outside before I walked in. Nope.
Then on my way home, this drunken guy wearing a dolphins jersey guy stopped me and started walking with me. He said he noticed my glasses earlier, and just had to stop me now that he'd seen me again. He asked me about my night etc, and then asked me for my number. I politely declined. I normally don't give out my number to random guys on random streets because they think I'm cute and noticed my glasses. Sorry dude.
I'm currently at a coffee shop in Midtown. I think I'll stay here until dinner. Then, I'm going to go home and test out my fancy schmancy new rice cooker (thanks Mom!) and eat some bap and kimchi and kim. Yum. Happy Sunday!
