State of the Union was last night. Didn't watch. By the time I remembered it was on, it was half over, so I just didn't bother. And I knew it would probably piss me off anyway, based on past experiences. I think it's kind of funny to see a guy who is SO RICH, whose family has been SO RICH forever, who kids are already SO RICH talk about social security and his dumb ideas for preserving it when no one in his family will ever have any need for it and the issue will never really have any resonance with his life or his kids. Don't you think it makes it easier for him to make risky and irresponsible decisions, knowing that he has nothing to lose? It's cynical and closed-minded, I know. I just can't help thinking that way. Yes, something needs to be done with social security, considering how senior heavy our society is going to become. I just don't think the solutions he's proposing are the right ones. Also, I think the idea of permanent tax cuts suck. Just another example of the rich getting richer and the president taking care of himself and his money above the needs and interests of people who weren't privleged enough to be born into a family like his.

I was very cranky and tired when I wrote this. I have nothing against rich people. I'm just a little frustrated at the Dubya right now.

Enough of my bleeding heart liberal ideas. The work week has seemed soooo long, but overall it's been fun. I've been hanging out with my roommate a lot, and it's been great laughing, eating and playing a whole lotta boggle.

Former ambassador to Pakistan, NU alum, crappiest graduation speaker ever, who gave advice like "work hard" "follow your dreams" "don't give up" "love people." My sister just emailed me with their graduation speaker- US Senator and Republican presidential candidate John McCa1n. WTF?? Every year but mine they get someone good. Class of 2003 got JACKED.
