And I'm back! I had a great weekend in Evanston, visiting the old haunts, seeing some cool folk and eating A LOT. Headed in on Thursday night, after being delayed delayed delayed. I have the WORST luck flying to Chicago. Anyways, Friday morning I headed to Chicago with Mel McG to observe MoFo's 4th grade class. Fourth graders are funny. They asked us a lot of questions- "When's your birthday? How old are you? What's your favorite movie? What's your favorite baseball team/ football team/ soccer team/ food/ book/ rapper/ video game/ holiday?" etc. Then I ate lunch at Flat Top Grill. Yummmm. Headed back to Evanston, stopped by Kellogg to say hi, and ate dinner at Thai Sook Dee. Yummmmm. Met up with Art and Jer for drinks, then hung out with Sarah for a while. BTW, my sister is awesome. Saturday morning I stopped by to watch my sister do her Small Group Olympics thing, then I had breakfast with EmilyMueller, who just got engaged! Seriously, her ring is MASSIVE. It's a rock. It was blinding. Hooray for engagements! Bought Sarah lunch, then walked along the lakefill. It was GORGEOUS. I forgot how much I love the Chicago skyline and walking along the lakefill. Met up with Ms. EmmyHong, who just finished her first year of finals, walked around Old Orchard and laughed a lot, then ate at Joy Yee's. Yummmmmm. Saturday night, there was a big DZ reunion. It was awesome. There were a bunch of us there, and we just sat at Prairie Moon and 1800 drinking and laughing. Good times. Went to Vineyard Sunday, and then grabbed lunch at Buff Joe's with Sarah and Pat. Yummmmmm. Then I left. My whole trip basically revolved around food and where I wanted to eat. And it was awesome.
Some observations/interesting things:
-DZ bathrooms are AWESOME. I think all of us alum just about passed out when we saw them. The new TV is pretty awesome too.
-It is WEIRD going back for the first time. It's a place I lived for four years... things are the same, but it's the little things that are different that you notice.
-When people saw me, their reaction was "Hey.... Heeeeeeeeeyy." Took them a bit to realize that it was me, and that me being there was not a normal occurence.
-I'm glad I'm not in college anymore.
-On the flight back, I was three rows behind JamesCarville, MaryMatalin and their kids. When you see JamesCarville, there's absolutely no mistaking that it's JamesCarville. And he has a really distinct voice. MaryMatalin is a little harder to recognize at first, but then there she is. Their kids are cute, and they seemed like fun/funny parents. Some people see famous actors etc. I see famous political people. And that's cool.
Enough of weekend talk. Here are some other things on my mind:
-Harry Potter 3 coming out soon! YAY!!
-Where am I going to live next year???
-It's lonely having the apartment to myself.
